MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Capt. Jason Towery is the training flight commander for the 908th Aeromedical Evacuation Squadron. Upon graduating high school, Towery enlisted in the Air Force Reserve as an AE technician. He holds a degree in nursing from The University of South Alabama which earned him his commission as a flight nurse in 2014.
Towery was inspired to join the military by several high school friends, saying the more they talked about it, the more he wanted to be a part of what seemed so inspiring to his peers.
“It just kind of resonated with me,” said Towery. “The sense of giving back to the community, giving back for the things I have. In retrospect the Air Force has really treated me very well.”
Towery speaks about his job and his service with a sense of pride that is surely felt by those he works with and those he serves every day.
“To me, there is no greater sense of accomplishment,” said Towery. “The look on someone’s face when you take them out of a situation that’s dangerous and you get them somewhere safe, I’ve never felt a higher sense of satisfaction.”
The medical field is one that requires service before self above all else and Capt. Jason Towery is a prime example of what that means.
