The men and women of the 908th Airlift Wing conducted a flyover during the 2017 NASCAR race at Talladega on May 7.

With the 908th being the only Air Force Reserve unit in the state of Alabama, NASCAR specifically requested the C-130 Hercules as an extension to foster strong ties with the unit and demonstrate the support they have for the Airmen in Alabama who serve their country, as well as maintain an active role within their communities.

The first partnership with the NASCAR community, where the 908th conducted a flyover, was in 2016 and subsequently, the first in more than 20 years.

This is the second year the unit’s C-130 Hercules showcased their capabilities and power to the thousands of NASCAR fans at Talladega.

Also at the event, six Airmen from various units within the 908th and three Sailors from, the Navy, participated in an opportunity to highlight the camaraderie between the services and their individual branches with journalists from NBC Sports.
