MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Newly promoted Senior Master Sgt. Ce’Drea Young is the operations manager for the 908th Force Support Squadron’s Sustainment Services Flight. On the civilian side, she is a fulltime Air Reserve Technician (ART) services specialist.
Even though she was born in Bessemer, Alabama, her family moved more than five times before her dad retired in Texas and moved to Huntsville, Alabama. Young said that she had always been interested in joining the military since her dad was in the Army. The opportunities for travel were a bonus as well.
Young has been a Reservist with the 908th Airlift Wing for her entire 18 years of service. She became an ART in 2013. Prior to this, she worked at a call center for five years.
She said she was most interested in the Air Force because of the importance they placed on education.
“I wanted to serve while also getting my degree,” she said.
Young is currently working towards her bachelor’s degree in health administration from the University of Arizona, Global Campus.
She said that her favorite way to spend her free time is by being with her family.
Young said that being in the Air Force opened her eyes to new things and gave her many opportunities.
“I really love customer service, meeting people, and interacting with them,” said Young.
As a Reserve Citizen Airman, Young leads with “Service Before Self” at the core of everything she does. Putting her people at the forefront and driving the 908th to excel even further.
