MAXWELL AIR FORCE BASE, Ala. -- Senior Airman Tamela Asare is an intelligence analyst with the 908th Operation Support Squadron who has been a reservist with the 908th Airlift Wing since January 2021. As an intel analyst, Asare is responsible for the gathering and dissemination of mission vital information in order to ensure efficient and informed strategic decisions.
Asare joined the military in an effort to seek out challenges outside of her civilian life, saying she wanted to serve her community and her country on a larger scale.
In her civilian life, Asare works as a strategic software architect for a major bank. Asare extends her service to others through humanitarian aid efforts, providing school supplies to students in need throughout the country and food to those in need in her community. In 2017 when Hurricane Harvey devastated parts of Texas and Louisiana, Asare took it upon herself to send aid in the form of food and supplies to families affected by the natural disaster.
“I thought about what I could do from my little place in the world to help out,” said Asare. “It ended up being a lot larger than what I thought it would be, people in my community caught wind of what I was doing and we ended up sending multiple semi-trailers full of food, clothes and medical supplies to those families.”
Asare is an avid traveler who has “visited enough countries to fill a passport or two”, she is a diver who has swam with whale sharks and is a jazz aficionado and saxophonist. Asare makes time for activities she enjoys all while managing her work life, military life and family life.
Using her degree in information technology, Asare plans to earn a commission and continue working in the intelligence field. Asare is a Reserve Citizen Airman who exemplifies the core value of “Service Before Self” by going above and beyond to help those in need as both a civilian and an Airman.
